VTS version 10 uses a proprietary database format to store tags. You cannot work directly with the tags in this database (other than through the VTS Tag Browser), but you can export the tags; work with them outside VTS, then import the changes back in.

You can save the tag database to either a Microsoft Access file or a Microsoft Excel file. A third option exists (ODBC Data Source), but this option requires you to do extra configuration first.

Once exported, you can add, delete and edit the tag information. By working in Excel, you can create large numbers of similar tags very quickly.

When you're done, use the same menu in the Application Configuration dialog to import the file. VTS will merge your changes into the current tag database, adding, deleting and changing as required.
