This system helps U.S. Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) officials make informed decisions about airline passengers boarding flights bound for the U.S. Information about each passenger’s checked baggage is recorded and made available to USCBP officials for use during the interview process. Trihedral developed its BIWIS solution using its flagship VTS HMI software which includes full-system redundancy, automatic failover and online configuration. The VTS BIWIS system was accepted for use by US customs agents after demonstrating compliance with the stringent performance and privacy standards set out by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The end result is increased security and a smoother and more efficient traveling experience for passengers. BIWIS is just one of several applications created for the newly re-named airport using Trihedral's VTS software. A new Baggage Conveyance Management Information System was completed in 2007.
