Online configuration allows process monitoring to continue without interruption, while users make additions and modifications to application displays and tag data. This is an essential feature of mission-critical applications (i.e. manufacturing) and is a critical component of VTS. In fact, VTS remains the only product that allows true online configuration.
A user can make configuration changes from any networked computer with a VTS Full Development license installed and can make limited configuration changes over a VTS Internet Client. This license may be installed on a local client or server computer, or on a computer connected remotely via high-speed WAN or dialup.
Application changes are managed through the VTS edit-lockout manager. The locking mechanism allows multiple users to simultaneously lock and configure different application objects and ensures each object may only be locked by one workstation at a time. Once changes have been tested and updated, they are automatically pushed out to all servers, clients and internet clients viewing the application.
