VTS is a tag-based product in that tag objects are the building block of all VTS applications and are used to represent all application variables - from I/O data and alarms to modems and device drivers. This simplification improves the product's ease of use and allows all application variables to be maintained in a single relational tag database.
Application tags are created and managed using a simple tab browser tool. This tool is located in the VTS Toolbox and can be used while the application is running. Thus, tag additions and modifications can be completed and tested without interfering with the application. Additionally, a convenient offline database conversion utility enables users to extract and import the entire VTS database to and from a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet for bulk tag creation.
Note: VTS licenses are sold based on the number of tags required to build the application. However, if future expansion requires the number of application tags to be upgraded, the user simply pays the price difference between the two licenses and receives a new software key.
