Outgoing alarms are communicated via phone, email or alphanumeric pager.
- Phone calls use the integrated Windows text-to-speech interface and standard off-the-shelf voice modems.
- Email is sent through an embedded VTS email server.*
- Pages are sent as text messages through a modem-to-modem interface with the paging company.
Users receiving voice calls may choose to acknowledge alarms during the call.
Rosters
A rosters is a list of up to 30 authorized users that the alarm dialer can contact sequentially in the event of an alarm. You can use them to easily divide your personnel by shift (i.e. day, night), area of responsibility (i.e. plant 1, plant 2) or function (i.e. operations, maintenance).
Additionally, each roster may include up to thirty users, with a mix of voice, email and page notifications. Whenever a roster is activated (manual and automatically) it is recorded as an alarm history event.
* NOTE – As of VTS version 10, the alarm dialer now supports SMTP servers with Transport Layer Security (e.g. Google’s Gmail™) for alarm notifications.
