Outgoing alarms are communicated via phone, email or alphanumeric pager. Phone calls utilize the integrated Windows text-to-speech interface and standard off-the-shelf voice modems. Email is sent through an embedded VTS email server and pager signals are sent as text messages through a modem-to-modem interface with the paging company. Users receiving voice calls may choose to acknowledge alarms during the call.
VTS supports rosters of users, such that users may be easily divided into different shifts (i.e. day, night), different areas of responsibility (i.e. plant 1, plant 2) or different functions (i.e. operations, maintenance). Additionally, each roster may include up to eight contacts, with a mix of voice, email and page messages.
