An HMI application should be scalable to meet an organization's present and future needs. A VTS application may be configured to function on a single workstation, where a single computer provides all application functionality, or as a networked application, where VTS functionality is spread across a number of server and client computers. Networking is an integrated feature of VTS and can be easily configured and reconfigured as needs change.

Server redundancy is essential in mission critical applications. VTS automatically handles primary to backup server failover, ensuring both thick client and Internet client connection transfers are fast and seamless. Moreover, when servers are restored, data and I/O communications are resynchronized to eliminate data loss.
