Tags are the Building Blocks of VTS Applications
Tags represent all application variables, from I/O data and alarms to modems and device drivers. This simplification improves ease-of-use and allows all application variables to be maintained in a single database.
VTS Tag Browser
Application tags are created and managed using a simple tabbed browser tool. This tool is located in the VTS Toolbox and can be used while the application is running. This allows you to create and modify tags in real-time without interrupting the application.
Creating or Editing Multiple Tags
As of VTS 10, tag properties are stored in a proprietary database that is tracked by the VTS Version Control system. This allows you to restore your system to any earlier set of tag configurations.
To edit tags outside of VTS in version 10, you first export them to a Microsoft Access™, Excel™ or any ODBC-compatible database. Once you perform the edits, you import them back into VTS. These changes are merged with the existing tag database and recorded by the version control system.

VTS Licensing
VTS licenses are sold based on the number of tags required by all applications running on a specific computer. If your VTS SupportPlus Service contract is current, you can expand your tag count by simply paying the difference between the two licenses and entering an updated software key. If not, you will first need to renew it.
