Since internet access is often from a remote location, it is imperative that system administrators be able to control this access and communicate with remote users to inform them of maintenance activities and other system disruptions. To meet this need, VTS includes an Internet Client Monitoring utility. This tool provides a list of user connections and important access information.

Administrators can view Internet Client connections, send a message to a single Internet Client, broadcast a message to all connected Internet Clients or force disconnection of any client. Forcible disconnections allow administrators to quickly stop malicious activity or free up a concurrent connection that may not have been released by the user. The latter problem may also be alleviated by setting an appropriate automatic logoff time for inactive connections.
