Often, timely and effective response to a crises requires access to process data from a remote location. However, numerous pager and Email messages can be overwhelming and Laptops can be inconvenient and expensive to make available to all maintenance staff.
The VTS WAP Server provides users with a powerful new method for accessing their SCADA network. Using a WAP enabled wireless device, users in the field can stay connected to the process without calling-in to busy system operators. With WAP enabled devices, remote data access is as easy as it is powerful.
What is WAP and how do I integrate it into VTScada?
WAP is an open, global specification used by wireless devices. This protocol utilizes connectivity through the Internet, thus WAP users must have a WAP-compatible handheld device, have a wireless network account, and provide VTScada a dedicated IP address accessible to the internet.
Is it Secure?
Yes. All access to the system will be governed by VTScada’s security manager.
What wireless networks are WAP compatible?
DECT, DataTAC, Mobitex, iDEN, GRPS, CDPD, CDMA, GSM, PDC, PHS, TDMA, FLEX, ReFLEX, and TETRA.
What operating systems are WAP compatible?
WAP can be integrated into most operating systems, including Windows CE™, Windows Vista™, Windows XP™, PalmOS™, EPOC™, FLEXOS™, OS/9™, JavaOS™, and Windows 2000 for pocket PC™.
