Add Application Privileges Using the Administrative Settings Dialog

In addition to the 37 system privileges, up to 240 application privileges can be added for a single application. As described in Application Privileges, these are custom privileges that you can create to protect objects (such as application pages and output tags) from unauthorized access. Only those users who have been granted the application privilege will have access to the object(s) it protects.

Directions on adding application privileges using the above two methods appear below.

To add application privileges using the Administrative Settings dialog:

1.   Click the Add button that appears in the Administrative Settings dialog. The Add Privilege dialog opens.

2.   Enter a name for the new privilege (e.g. "Valve Control").

3.   Press the Enter key on your keyboard to enable the OK button.

4.   Click the OK button. The new application privilege is added to the list application privileges.

Once you have created application privileges, you can associate them with the objects you wish them to protect (see Protecting Objects Using Application Privileges), and you can grant them to those users whom you wish to access the protected objects (see Modify Account Dialog). Remember; often when you are creating application privileges, you may forget to grant them to your own user account. Be sure to grant yourself the application privileges you've created, so you are free to access all objects in the application.
