When you are in the process of adding a server to the Configuration Server Choices list, clicking the Add button (on the New Application Properties dialog or the Application Properties dialog) opens the Add Server dialog shown below:

The purpose of the Add Server dialog is to enable you to select the name of a server present on your network from a drop-down list, or to allow you to manually enter the server's name or IP address. Once you have selected or typed the name of a server in the Machine Name drop-down list, be sure to press the Enter key on your keyboard to enable the OK button.
Note: It is strongly recommended that you use workstation names, rather than IP addresses when specifying a primary configuration server and/or backup configuration servers for your applications, especially in dual-homed situations, or in networks where dynamic IPs are assigned.
