Authentication and the VIC

In order to gain access to a specified realm, you must enter a valid username and password as configured under the VTS Security Manager. On the first occasion you attempt to access any of the applications within a specified realm, the Enter Network Password dialog displayed below opens.

The username and password you enter must exist within the first running standard application belonging to the specified realm. If the application within which your username and password exist is not running,  or is not the first application listed in the realm, you are not permitted access to the realm.

If you enter an invalid username and password, you are prompted again with the same Enter Network Password dialog. You are permitted 3 attempts at logging on before you receive an Error Code 401 message (see VTS/IS Error Messages).
