Configuring Spoken Alarms

You can configure VTS to speak an alarm using the Microsoft SAPI 5.1 (or later) speech engine. Alarms can be spoken either in addition to the standard tone, or instead of the tone.  This feature is available on VTS Internet Clients as well as workstations running VTS.  To configure dial-out alarms, please refer to the Alarm Dialer System.

What you will hear when an alarm is spoken depends on how you have configured the alarm speech options.  If no options have been configured and the alarm does not have a description, you will at least hear the name of the alarm.  Please refer to Spoken Alarm Configuration Options for a discussion of the available configuration settings.

If an alarm is acknowledged while it is being spoken, the voice will immediately stop.
