Core VTS Layer

The VTS layer contains the fundamental set of VTS features and functionality, which are inherited by all applications except script applications. The following list describes some of the core VTS features and functionality afforded an application or project that is based on the VTS layer (or is based on another layer which is in turn based on the VTS layer).

•    Display manager

•   Page navigation including menu, page change buttons & page history buttons.

•    Security manager

•   User accounts including username, password and privileges

•   Administrative options such as auto-logoff period, password lengths, etc.

•    Configuration toolbox

•   Tag browser (add, copy, modify, delete and draw tags)

•   Page libraries (add, copy, modify and delete pages)

•   Menu editor for controlling the menu.

•   VTS Graphic Editor (VGE – configures the appearance of all objects on a page)

•   Alarm page (view different alarm categories, manage alarms and alarm sounds)

•   Historical Data Viewer page  (plot tag data on a graph)

•   Reports page  (generate a variety of report types in varying output formats from a selection of tag data)

The VTS layer can be found in its own application directory named, "VTS", which exists within the VTS installation directory (e.g. "C:\VTS\VTS\").

Note: The VTS layer and its application directory and the files within it should never be modified. Always create a new application based upon the VTS layer to access its functionality and features. Detailed information about the architecture of VTS and the VTS layer is provided in Introduction to VTS Architecture.
