The Database Conversion Utility enables you to convert the data from an excel spreadsheet to a Microsoft Access database, or from an Access database file to an excel spreadsheet.
Note: Remember; is strongly recommended that you make back up copies of your database files prior to any database conversion or editing.
In order to make use of the Database Conversion Utility, it is first necessary to add it as a new application using the VAM. It is stored in the VTS installation directory in the DBConvert directory. Instructions on adding existing applications to the VAM can be found in Adding Existing Applications to the VAM.
Once you have added the Database Conversion Utility as a new application, select it and click the Run button. The Database Conversion Utility opens as shown below.

The Database Conversion Utility converts ODBC compliant databases by reading the table and record information from the original database and writing that information to the new database.
The original database whose data you intend to convert is known as the "origin", while the new database that will house the converted data is known as the "destination". The flow of conversion always occurs from the origin database to the destination database (as is indicated by the large arrow between the Original and Destination sections displayed above).
The sections that follow outline the use of the Database Conversion Utility.
