When you click the Dialer Options button in the Configuration Toolbox, the Dialer Options dialog opens. An example is displayed below.

The Dialer Options dialog can be used to set the terms and conditions under which registered operators will be contacted by your application's Alarm Dialer system. The Dialer Options dialog enables you to select the modem that will be used for outgoing calls, the amount of time the system should wait before notifying designated operators that an alarm has gone unacknowledged, the priority of alarms of which designated operators should be notified, and the greeting to use when an operator has been contacted by phone.
The information below describes the elements of the Dialer Options dialog to assist you in configuring it for your system.
Dial-out Priority: Enables you to set the category of alarms of which you wish the Alarm Dialer system to notify operators. This can be one of:
• Do not dial on alarms: The Alarm Dialer system will be disabled.
• Dial on priority 1 alarms only: Only radio button, the Alarm Dialer system will notify operators of alarms with the most urgent priority (i.e. alarms whose Priority property has been set to 1-Critical).
• Dial on priority 1 or 2 alarms: The Alarm Dialer system will notify operators of alarms with the most urgent priority (i.e. alarms whose Priority property has been set to 1-Critical) and alarms with the next highest priority (i.e. alarms whose Priority property has been set to 2-High).
Note: If the radio buttons described above do not fit the needs of your system, you may use the MaxCallAlarmPriorityReported Config.ini variable to customize the priority of alarms of which operators will be notified by the Alarm Dialer system (see "VTS Programmer’s Guide: 13: Configuration Files and Variables: Config.ini [SYSTEM] Section Variables for the Alarm Dialer System ").
Delay (secs) to Dial Priority 1 Alarms: Set to the number of seconds you wish the Alarm Dialer system to wait before notification of an unacknowledged priority 1 alarm is sent to operators. If a priority 1 alarm is acknowledged before the time set in this field, then the call-out will be aborted. The default value for this field is 300 seconds (or 5 minutes).
Delay (secs) to Dial Priority 2 Alarms: Set to the number of seconds you wish the Alarm Dialer system to wait before notification of an unacknowledged priority 2 alarm is sent to operators. If a priority 2 alarm is acknowledged before the time set in this field, then the call-out will be aborted. The default value for this field is 900 seconds (or 15 minutes).
Note: This field is only required if the Dial on Priority 1 or 2 alarms radio button has been selected under the Dial-out Priority section, or a custom setting has been configured using the MaxCallAlarmPriorityReported Config.ini variable (see Dial-out Priority above).
Delay (secs) Between Calls: Set to the number of seconds you wish the Alarm Dialer system to wait between outgoing calls to designated operators. The default value for this field is 0 (i.e. no delay between calls to designated operators).
Spoken Name in Phone Greeting: Enables you to enter a greeting to be spoken by the Alarm Dialer system when initially greeting operators. The default value for this field is "The VTScada System".
Echo Phone Through Speaker: Can be selected to command the Alarm Dialer system to broadcast through the PC speakers (in addition to the phone). This allows multiple users to listen to the Alarm Dialer system annunciate phone messages.
If the Echo Phone Through Speaker checkbox is selected, the Alarm Dialer system will broadcast through the PC speakers (in addition to the phone).
If the Echo Phone Through Speaker checkbox is not selected (default), the Alarm Dialer system will not broadcast through the PC speakers.
Note: This option is typically used for demonstration purposes only.
Where did the e-mail option go? Developers familiar with earlier versions of VTS may expect to find fields here for configuring e-mail features. These have been moved to the enhanced e-mail options dialog.
