Before Starting: This example assumes that you have a custom meter, such as the one created in the first example of this series.
Open the Drawing Method Editor for the meter. This can be done using either of the following:
If the meter has been drawn on an application page, right-click on it and select Edit from the context menu that opens.
Or
Open the configuration toolbox. Click on Libraries. Expand the Drawing Tools menu. Expand the User Draw Methods menu. Right-click on the custom meter drawing method to open its context menu. Select Edit.
The meter is made of 6 separate pieces, each on top of the other. Selecting just one to change can be tricky. Fortunately, it isn't necessary, as shown in the next step.
1. Press Ctrl-A on the keyboard to select all the meter pieces. (i.e. hold down the control key while tapping the A key.)
2. Right-click on any of the selected items.
3. The VTS Graphic Editor will open, with all the components listed in the menu, in the order in which they were first created.
4. Select panel of the first bitmap in the list. In the case of the meter created by an earlier example in this series, this will be the background.
5. Select a new bitmap to be the background. (You may need to use the Send to Back button after doing this).
6. Close the VTS Graphic Editor. All drawn instances of the meter should now be using the new background image.
