Note: VTS does not provide an email server. To email a report, you must have an email server installed and identified in VTS using the EmailServer configuration variable in your application's Config.ini file. Note that MS Outlook™ is an email program, not an email server.
Sending a Report in the Body of an E-mail
When you select Text File as your report output type, the E-mail Report checkbox is enabled. When selected, the E-mail Report checkbox causes the report generator to e-mail a copy of the report data to a specified address or set of addresses within the body of the e-mail message.
To transmit a copy of report data within the body of an e-mail message, follow the steps below:
1. Configure the report type, the tags whose data you wish included in the report, and the duration for the report.
2. Ensure that Text File is selected from the Output Type drop-down list (other report output types do not allow the transmission of reports in the body of an e-mail).
3. Select the E-mail Report checkbox.
4. Click the E-mail Settings button. The E-mail Settings dialog opens.

5. Enter the e-mail address(es) for the recipient(s) in the E-mail Recipients field (e.g. support@trihedral.com). If you intend to transmit the report to multiple e-mail recipients, separate each e-mail address with a semi-colon (e.g. support@trihedral.com; louellet@trihedral.com).
6. Enter a subject for your e-mail message in the Subject field.
7. Enter any text you wish to include with your e-mail message in the Message field.

8. Click the OK button to close the E-mail Settings dialog.
9. Click the Run Report button.
Note: If you are accessing the VTS reports page using a VTS Internet Client (see Browsing VTS Applications on the Web), you will not be able to utilize the e-mail report options, nor will you be able to utilize the ODBC Data Source report output option, however, all other report output options (as defined in Output Formats for Reports) will be accessible.
Reports that are formatted as text files, comma-separated value (CSV) files, or Microsoft Excel or Access files may be sent as attachments to an e-mail.
Sending a Report as an E-mail Attachment
When you select Text File, CSV File, Formatted Excel XLS File, Plain Excel XLS File, or Access MDB File as your report output type, the E-mail Report as Attachment checkbox becomes enabled. When selected, the E-mail Report as Attachment checkbox causes the report generator to e-mail a copy of the report data to a specified address or set of addresses as an attachment to the e-mail message.
To transmit a copy of report data as an attachment to an e-mail message, follow the steps below.
1. Configure the report type, the tags whose data you wish included in the report, and the duration for the report.
2. Ensure that Text File, CSV File, Formatted Excel XLS File, Plain Excel XLS File, or Access MDB File is selected from the Output Type drop-down list (other report output types do not allow the transmission of reports as attachments to e-mail messages).
3. Select the E-mail Report as Attachment checkbox.
