Formatted Excel XLS File Report Output Format

Selecting the Formatted Excel XLS File option in the Output Type drop-down list enables you to save report data into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that will be formatted with a bold title and column headings (as opposed to the plain Excel XLS file option (see Plain Excel XLS File Report Output Format) which saves the report into a spreadsheet that has not been formatted with a bold title and column headings).

To generate a report as a formatted Microsoft Excel spreadsheet:

1.   Configure the report type, the tags whose data you wish included in the report, and the duration for the report. (If you need assistance in completing these tasks, please refer to Generating a Report.)

2.   Select Formatted Excel XLS File from the Output Type drop-down list.

3.   [optional] Click the Browse button if you would like to save the report to a folder other than the application directory.

4.   Enter a name for your text file in the File Name field.

5.   Click the Save button. You are returned to the Reports page where the path, file name, and extension you have configured for your text file appears in the File field.

6.   Click the Run Report button.

You may send report data formatted as an Excel file as an e-mail attachment. See:  E-mailing Reports.

Note: If you are accessing the VTS reports page using a VTS Internet Client (see Browsing VTS Applications on the Web), the path you specify for your report will be relative to your VIC's hard drive, rather than that of the VTS/IS upon which the application is running.
