HDV Tag Selector Dialog

An example of the Tag Selector is displayed below.

With this tool, you can select tags to be plotted, or create a query that will select tags for you, based on the criteria you set.  Detailed instructions for using this dialog box can be found in the topic: Using the Tag Selector.

 Filter Tags/Create Query

Whether filtering the tag list for ease of selection or building a query based on a filter, these fields allow you to narrow the list of tags to only those you are interested in seeing plotted.  See: Filtering the Tags for Selection or Query.

Tag Selection List

Displays the tags that can be plotted and that pass the defined filters. The Tag Selection list displays the following data for each tag:

Name:                                   The Name property configured for each tag.

Field:                                     The available value(s) that can be plotted for each tag. (Driver tags, for example, have several logged data fields in addition to their value.)

Description:                        The Description property configured for each tag.

Area:                                     The Area property configured for each tag.

Data Source Type:           The data type applicable to each tag. This will be one of AnalogDataSource, DigitalDataSource, or NotebookDataSource.

Tag Type:                            The tag type applicable to each tag.

Selected Tags/Queries for Plotting

Displays the tags and/or queries that have been selected and that will be plotted when the Plot button (see below) has been clicked.

Note: In this case, a query is a request for information from the tag properties database based on the filtering criteria you entered in the Filter Tags/Create Query section. A query is added to the Selected Tags/Queries for Plotting list when the Add Query (see below) has been clicked.

Move Selected                   The Move Selected arrows enable you to change the order in which the tags and/or queries displayed in the Selected Tags/Queries for Plotting list are displayed. To move a tag or query up or down in the Selected Tags/Queries for Plotting list, select the item and click the appropriate Move Selected button.

Select Tag                           The Select Tag button enables you to add the tag that has been selected in the Tag Selection list to the Selected Tags/Queries for Plotting list.

Note: You may also add any tag that has been selected in the Tag Selection list to the Selected Tags/Queries for Plotting list by double clicking it.

Add Query                          Creating a query has the same effect as building a filter with the fields described above, then selecting all tags that match.  In the list of Selected Tags/Queries for Plotting, a query may look similar to the following example:

This query was built from the following filter selection:

Save Group                        The Save Group button enables you to save the tags and/or queries that have been added to the Selected Tags/Queries for Plotting list as a group that can be loaded onto the Historical Data Viewer page at any time using the Pen Group Selector drop-down list that appears in the Historical Data Viewer page's tool bar (see Historical Data Viewer Page: Tool Bar).

Preview                                The Preview button opens the Preview Expanded Tag List dialog that displays a list of the tags that have been selected for plotting.

Remove Tag/Query         The Remove Tag/Query button enables you to remove a selected tag or query from the Selected Tags/Queries for Plotting list (i.e. the selected item will not be plotted when the Plot button is clicked).

Remove All                         The Remove All button enables you to clear the Selected Tags/Queries for Plotting list (i.e. no items will be plotted when the Plot button has been clicked).

Delete Group                     The Delete Group button enables you to delete the named pen group that is currently being edited.

Plot                                        The Plot button closes the Tag Selector dialog and plots the tags and/or queries that are displayed in the Selected Tags/Queries for Plotting list.

Note: If no tags or queries are displayed in the Selected Tags/Queries for Plotting list, the Plot button will be labeled Close, and will simply close the Tag Selector dialog when clicked.
