Page Locks and Remote Configuration Dialog Access

For remote (networked) applications, VTS uses an automatic locking system to ensure that two developers cannot make configuration changes to the same resource item, such as a page or tag, at the same time. The first user to make a modification to a resource item is granted the lock, and other users must wait until the lock has been released before they may obtain a lock and modify the resource item.

The title bar displays a key icon to the far right when the page you are viewing has been locked.

There are two colors in which a page lock icon may be displayed:

Green: Indicates that your PC holds the lock on the page.

Yellow: Indicates that another user’s PC holds the lock on the page.

Note: If another user holds the lock on a page, you may rest your mouse pointer over the key icon to view the name of the PC holding the lock.

Detailed information about the VTS locking scheme and remote configuration is provided in Remote Configuration and the VTS Locking Scheme.

You may manage locked resource items using the Remote Configuration dialog. Clicking on the key will open the Remote Configuration dialog.
