Performing Remote Updates to a VTScada Application

In the event that you wish to access and update a VTScada application from a remote PC, you may RAS in to the server, perform the modifications, update the changes so that they are propagated to all workstations running the VTScada application, and close the RAS connection.

Note: The term RAS refers to Remote Access Service; a feature built into Windows that enables users to log into a LAN using the TCP/IP network protocol.

Because the configuration of RAS differs according to the operating system of the client and the configuration of the network to which you are connecting, when configuring a RAS connection, refer to the documentation provided with your Windows operating system.

Note: It is important to configure RAS in such a way that you can ping the VTS server from the client, thereby ensuring that the client and VTS server have achieved communications. VTS requires TCP/IP to communicate with VTS.

Once a connection between the client and the VTS server has been made, you can follow the steps identified in the sections that follow to access, modify, and update the VTScada application.
