Protect an Output or Modem Tag with an Application Privilege

You can protect analog output tags, digital output tags and modem tags using application privileges. To do so, you must simply set the SecurityBit property for the tag with the name of the application privilege you wish to use.

1.   Click the Tag Browser button in the configuration toolbox. The Tag Browser opens.

2.   Select the tag you wish to protect using the application privilege you've configured. This must be an analog or digital output tag or a modem tag.

3.   Click the Properties button. The tag properties folder opens and displays the current properties for the selected tag.

4.   Select the Merit tab of the tag properties folder (for analog or digital output tags) or the Settings tab (for modem tags).

5.   Select the application property from the Security Bit drop-down list.

6.   Click the OK button on the tag properties folder.

7.   Close the Tag Browser.

Operators must now have the application privilege in order to change the value of the output or modem tag. If you wish to add the application privilege to a user account, see Modify Account Dialog.
