You can use a combination of security privileges and application privileges to diminish operator error, and to prevent unauthorized use of objects and features within your application. It is not difficult to establish application privileges; it is equally simple to protect objects in your application using these application privileges.
To protect objects such as analog output tags, digital output tags, modem tags, and application pages using application privileges, you need only set the Security Bit property for each of the objects. For tags, the Security Bit property typically appears on the tag's "Merit" tab, while the Security Bit property for application pages can be set from the Page Properties dialog (via the page configuration dialog).
The sections that follow provide instructions on protecting pages and tags using application privileges.
Note: Instructions on adding application privileges can be found in Add Application Privileges Using the Administrative Settings Dialog. Granting application privileges to those users whom you wish to have access to the protected objects can be found in Add Account Dialog and in Modify Account Dialog.
