Quick Start: Access a Standard Application Running on a VTS/IS

Assuming that the VTS Internet  Server has been properly configured and that it is running at least one application that includes a user account that has been granted Internet Client Access, then all that is required for the client to connect is the name of the VTS/IS and the realm.

If there is only one realm configured on the server, then only the name of the VTS/IS is required. The client will automatically be connected to the realm.

The instructions below will assist you in obtaining a list of applications running on the VTS/IS, and running a standard application.

1.   Run Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater.

2.   Enter "http://" (plain text) or "https://" (SSL) followed by the name of the VTS/IS, followed by a forward slash (/), followed by the name of the realm. An example is shown below.

The Enter Network Password dialog opens.

3.   Enter a valid username and password in the dialog. This username should be the one assigned to you within the first VTS application listed within the realm you have specified.

4.   Click the OK button.

The Enter Network Password dialog closes, and if the password was accepted, the first application in the realm will open.

Back in Internet Explorer, the page will display the following message:

“The VIC session is now running. You may close this window.”

If this realm contains more than one application, there will also be a link labeled “Available Applications”.  Clicking on this link will open a page similar to the following:

5.   Click the name of the application you wish to view.

Note: As the ActiveX application is installed, a security warning dialog may be displayed on your screen. This is perfectly normal behavior. Select the checkbox beside “Always trust content from Trihedral Engineering Limited” and then click on the Yes button to proceed.
