Release a Lock

When a lock is held on a resource item, the workstation that holds the lock is identified in the Locked By column of the Remote Configuration dialog. If the lock is held by your own workstation, you can easily decide whether to release the lock, or to update the resource item.

There may be situations where you must force the release of a lock on another workstation. This decision must be made with caution, as any modifications made to a locked resource item since the lock was obtained will be permanently and irreversibly destroyed. If it is your intention to release the lock on a selected resource item, it is a good idea to consult the user who has the lock to determine what modifications have been made to the resource item prior to releasing the lock.

To release the lock on a selected resource item:

1.   [Is security has been enabled] Logon to a user account that has been granted all system privileges.

2.   Click the Configure button in the Display Manager's title bar.

The Configuration Toolbox opens.

3.   Click the Remote Configuration button (labeled with a key).

The Remote Configuration dialog opens and displays all resource items for the application.

4.   Select the resource item whose lock you wish to release.

5.   Click the Release Lock button.

All modifications that have been made to the selected resource item are discarded, and the lock on the resource item is released. The resource item returns to the state in which it existed when the lock was originally obtained.
