Renaming a Standard Application's Directory

To change the name and path (directory name) of a standard application that is based either on the VTS layer, or on a custom OEM layer, follow the steps below.

Note: If other applications are based on this application layer, further steps are involved. To change the name and directory for an application upon which other applications are based, see Renaming a Custom OEM Layer's Application Directory.

1.   Exit VTS (if it is currently running).

2.   Navigate to the application directory – normally found below your VTS installation directory.

3.   Right-click the application directory. A Windows shortcut menu displays.

4.   Select Rename from the Windows shortcut menu.

5.   Rename the application directory using valid characters.

Valid characters consist of alpha-numeric characters and the dollar sign ($), decimal (.), number hatch () and underscore (_) characters.

6.   Using the text editor of your choice, open the GDI.wif file within the application directory.

7.   Enter the new application name on the first line in the GDI.wif file.

This name must obey the rules for valid characters.

8.   Save and close the GDI.wif file.

9.   Run VTS. The VAM opens.

10. Add the renamed application to the VAM just as you would any other existing application (see Adding Existing Applications to the VAM).

It is recommended that you keep the application names and the related directory names the same in order to make it easier for you to locate your applications.
