The Select Color dialog is associated with many different VTS dialogs, enabling you to choose colors for page backgrounds, graphic object outlines and fills, text foreground and background, bitmap annunciation areas, and tag drawing methods. Depending on the context, one of two versions of the Select Color dialog may be displayed. An example of each is displayed below.

Select Color Dialog Elements
Color Palette The Select Color dialog provides access to the 256-color VTS palette. To select any of these 256 colors, click the desired color.
When you initially open the Select Color palette, it operates in free color mode; you may run your mouse pointer over and select any color in the palette or on your graphics page. Information on free color mode is provided in Free Color Mode.
Sample The area just above the Cancel button displays a preview of the currently selected color.
Transparent In cases where there is an option to set the color to “None” (e.g. for Fill or Outline when drawing graphic objects) then the Select Color box will not also have a Transparent option. You will see this option when selecting a color for bitmap panels, border colors and most tag drawing methods.
When Transparent has been selected, the sample color will not update as you move the mouse pointer over the palette. The object will be drawn using the background colors wherever it is placed on the page.
