Selecting Multiple Objects on a Page

The sections that follow provide information on selecting multiple objects on a page using a variety of different methods, such as the Ctrl key and the mouse, the Shift key and the mouse, or the Ctrl + A key combination.

Select Multiple Objects Using the Control (Ctrl) Key

You can select multiple objects on an application page using the Control (Ctrl) key and your mouse.

1.   Press and hold the Ctrl key.

2.   Click objects on the application page. Handles will appear around selected objects.

3.   Release the Ctrl key.

 

You are now free to reposition the selected objects as a group.

Select Multiple Objects Using the Shift Key

You can select multiple objects on an application page using the Shift key and your mouse.

1.   Press and hold the Shift key. A selection rectangle is attached to the mouse pointer.

2.   Move the mouse until all the objects you wish to select appear within the rectangle.

3.   Release the Shift key and the mouse button. Handles will appear around the selected objects.

Select All Objects on a Page

To select all the objects appearing on a page, press the Control (Ctrl) key and the "A" key.

Note: You can modify the properties of all selected objects by right-clicking one object and using the VTS Graphic Editor. All the selected objects and their properties will be listed in the editor’s menu on the left side of the dialog box.  Further information on modifying the properties of a group of selected objects can be found in Modify the Properties of all Objects in a Selected Group.

 

Note: Once you've selected all objects on a page, you can copy and paste them to a new location using the other keyboard shortcuts identified in Working with Objects. Another option is to copy a page and its contents. For instructions, please refer to Duplicating a Page with Copy and Paste.
