Start a Remote Client

The "Start Remote Client" function of the "Reset Remote Client" dialog enables you to remotely start a remote application on a client workstation. This operation is useful when you are not in close proximity to the client. In order for you to start an application on a remote client, the remote application must be installed on the client workstation.

To start a remote application on a remote client workstation:

8.   Select the remote application from the "Application Name" drop-down list. The primary configuration server will be identified in the "Primary Server" field to the right.

9.   Select the "All Workstations" radio button. The "Potential Clients" list will display all workstations that appear on the network, regardless as to whether they have the selected application installed.

10. Select the name of the client workstation you wish to start in the "Potential Clients" list.

11. Click the "Start Client" button. VTS will search for the application on the selected client. If VTS has found the application on the selected client, a message will open asking you to confirm that you wish the application to be started on the selected client workstation.

12. Click the "OK" button. The selected client starts running the remote application. This process will force the client to synchronize with the configuration server on the startup of the application, thereby resetting it. Once the client workstation has successfully started the application, a message will open to inform you that the operation is complete.

13. Click the "Close" button on the "Remote Message" dialog.

14. Click the "Close" button on the "Reset Remote Client" dialog.

In the event that an application is not found on a selected workstation, a message will appear that warns that the selected client does not have the application installed.
