VTS has tag groups that are used to organize the standard tag types into collections based on their value, capabilities, or other characteristics. Some of the tag types belong to multiple groups based on shared characteristics. The tag groups are:

Analogs Group                       Container Group (VTScada)

Digitals Group                        Drivers Group

Loggers Group                       Numeric Group

Ports Group                            Trenders Group

VTScada Drivers Group (VTScada)

The tag groups can be used to:

•    Filter tags in the Tag Browser's Types field for easier location in complex applications.

•    Enable selection of a specific tag type in a tag-associated drop-down list. For example, when creating a new driver tag type to be associated with an analog or digital input tag, clicking the "…" button to the right of the I/O Device field opens a group dialog that allows you to select the type of driver tag you wish to create.
