Tag Properties Database and Security

Tag properties database for remote applications can be protected from unauthorized access by clients using a username and password that is entered on the configuration server. To protect the tag properties database, follow the steps below:

 

1.   Stop the application on the configuration server (if it is running).

2.   Select the application in the VAM's available applications list.

3.   Click the Properties button. The Application Properties dialog opens. An example is displayed below.

4.   Enter a username in the Username field.

5.   Enter a password in the Password field.

6.   Click the OK button.

 

Users cannot set the username and password from any workstation other than the primary configuration server. Once a username and password has been configured for a remote application, clients will not have direct access to modify Points.mdb unless they know the correct username and password.
