When an operator is logged on to their user account, the tools and objects that they can use and control depend upon the privileges granted to their user account. There are two categories of user privileges: system privileges and application privileges.
Every new application you create begins with the exact same security configuration: one default user account, 37 available security privileges, default administrative settings, and so on. Each time you create a new application, the new user accounts, passwords, system privileges and administrative settings you configure apply only to that application.
Although the same system privileges are available for every new application you create, application privileges are ones that are created specifically for the objects within a single application. This is why application privileges are sometimes referred to as application-specific privileges.
