At the heart of VTS is a system of data storage and sharing. A series of databases are used to store tag properties and locking information for each application you create.
The VTS databases are:
• The tag properties database, Points.mdb
This is a Microsoft Access database unless otherwise configured. May be stored in any database format for which you have an ODBC driver installed.
• The replica tag database, SCT.mdb
Always stored in a Microsoft Access database format.
• The configuration database, Config.db
Stored in a proprietary VTS database format.
• The realms database, Realms.db
Also stored in a proprietary VTS database format. This database is used by VTS Internet Servers (i.e. PCs with the VTS/IS component and one or more VTS/IC licenses installed) to store information about configured realms.
Each of these databases plays a distinct role in the functioning of your applications. The sections that follow provide information on each of these database files.
