VTS services are special software components that provide and control a specific group of VTS functions. There are many different VTS services (e.g. Security Manager, Log Manager, Alarm Manager, Display Manager), but two in particular apply to remote applications. These are:

•    The RPC Manager; and

•    The Edit Lockout Manager (or ELM).

These two services are discussed in the sections that follow.
