Definitions:
• WAP (Wireless Application Protocol)
• WML (Wireless Markup Language – an XML based language similar to HTML)
• Card (a unit of WAP content representing one screen display)
• Deck (a file containing one or more Cards)
In order to provide WAP content, you will need the following:
• A configured (and licensed) VTS Internet Server (VTS/IS) with a network connection.
• A Realm configured for WAP.
• An application to provide the content you wish to publish.
• A WAP handler application to collect and format and display information from the application. Sample handlers are included with both VTS and VTScada.
The following diagram illustrates the flow of data from a VTS application to a WAP client. As shown, information from a VTS application must be collected and processed by a WAP handler module. This turns it into a content stream that provides raw data to a pre-defined template. The template provides the formatting for WML Cards which are then published to a network through a Realm defined on a VTS Internet Server.
