Working with Remote Applications

In VTS, a standard application can be run as a local application, or as a remote application. These terms are defined as follows:

Local Application: A "local application" is one that is run on your local workstation. Such an application does not share data between your local PC and any other PC.

Remote Application: A "remote application" is one that runs on multiple workstations, sharing and synchronizing data among the PCs that are running it. Remote applications have a client/server architecture.

VTS provides a full set of features that enable you to quickly and almost effortlessly deploy your remote applications in a networked environment. The sections that follow will guide you through the creation and setup of a remote application, designating primary and backup servers, configuring clients, and keeping files and data synchronized.
