10.2 Adding Existing Pages to the Menu Structure

The primary means of navigation within a VTS application is the menu in the lower left corner of the Display Manager.

Our tutorial application currently consists of 2 application pages and all of the VTS standard pages (Alarms, Reports, etc.)

Your operators do not need access to the Call-Out list page or the Internet Client Monitor therefore you will configure the menu to remove these pages. While working with the menu editor, you will also see how to add and organize pages.

1.  Click the Menu Editor button in the Configuration Toolbox (as indicated by the mouse pointer and the tooltip Figure 125).

The Menu Editor opens, more or less as shown in Figure 126.

2.  Click on the Call-Out List item in the Menu Editor to select it.

3.  Click on the cut icon to remove this entry from the list.

4.  Do the same with the Internet Client Monitor entry.

5.  Click the Booster Station menu item in the Menu Editor. The Booster Station menu item becomes highlighted. Any menu items added always appear beneath the currently selected item.

One way to organize the menu structure efficiently and logically is to use dividers to separate pages into groups. For example, you might wish to separate pages according to location, processes, or purpose. In this example, you will add a divider to separate the Booster Station application page from the Alarm page, Reports page, and Historical Data Viewer page.

To add a divider to the menu structure:

6.  Click the Add Divider button. A menu item labeled [divider] appears beneath the Booster Station application page as shown in Figure 127.

7.  Click the Add button in the menu.  The Add Menu Item dialog will open

8.  Select the Booster Pump Control entry and then click the OK button.

9.  Click the Menu button on the Display Manager's navigation bar.

The menu opens and should appear similar to Figure 129. This time the Booster Pump Control application page is separated from the Alarm, Reports, and Historical Data Viewer pages by a divider.
