Another way to organize the menu structure efficiently and logically is to use submenus to separate pages into groups. To do this, you must first create a sub-tree in the Menu Editor, and then add the pages you wish to separate under the sub-tree.
In this example, you will create a sub-tree under the main menu that you will name "Process Equipment". You will organize the main menu to include the Alarm page, Reports page, and the Historical Data Viewer page, while the Process Equipment sub-tree under the main menu will contain the Booster Station application page. Since the Booster Station page currently appears under the main menu, we will practice dragging menu items to change their position.
Because we are adding a sub-tree, we will not require a divider in our menu. We will therefore delete the divider. This process will help you to learn how to successfully edit your menu items within the Menu Editor.
1. Select the [divider] menu item under the Booster Station menu item in the Menu Editor window. The [divider] item is highlighted in blue.
2. Click the Cut button. The [divider] item is removed the menu structure.

3. Repeat to cut the Booster Pump Control page from the menu.
4. Click and drag the Booster Station entry to bring it to the top of the menu, just below Main. The Menu Editor should now appear similar to Figure 130.

Figure 130
5. Select the Main item. "Main" will be highlighted in blue.
6. Click the Add Sub Tree button. A new sub-tree menu item is added directly under the Main menu item, and the cursor is ready for the menu title to be entered.

7. Enter "Process Equipment" in the sub-tree menu item and press the Enter key on your keyboard.
This will become the title for the sub-tree. The sub-tree is ready to have pages added to it. We want the Booster Station application page to appear under the new sub-tree.

Figure 132
8. Click on the Booster Station menu item to select it.
9. Drag the Booster Station menu item until it is positioned under the Process Equipment sub-tree.
10. Release the mouse button to drop the Booster Station menu item under the new Process Equipment sub-tree.
After a moment, the Booster Station item will appear under the Process Equipment sub-tree as shown below.

Figure 133
11. Click the close button in the Menu Editor's title bar. You are returned to the Booster Station application page.
12. Click the Menu button in the Display Manager's navigation bar. The menu opens as shown.

Figure 134
The menu now displays an arrow to the right of the Process Equipment entry, indicating a sub menu. When you move the mouse pointer over Process Equipment, the sub menu opens as displayed above.
Now that you have become familiar with the Menu Editor and the ways you can organize menu items, we will go on to learn about other navigation options available in VTS.
