15.7 Modifying Administrative Settings (Password Length)

The Options dialog features an Options button that opens the administrative settings dialog. In this exercise you will open the Administrative Settings dialog and change the settings for the tutorial application.

You should still be logged on to the Manager1 account. If you are not, please do so now.

1.  Click the Manager1 button to open the Options dialog.

2.  Click the Options button on the Options dialog.

The Administrative Settings dialog opens as shown in Figure 190.

3.  Select the option “No automatic logoff”.

4.  Select "3" from the Password Minimum Length spin box.

5.  Click the OK button.

The Administrative Settings dialog closes, and the new settings are instantly saved and activated.

You will no longer be logged off if your account is idle, and user passwords must now consist of a minimum of 3 characters.

Note: It is not advisable to select No Automatic Logoff on a deployed application, as this means that users will not be automatically logged off if they leave their application idle, possibly leading to a security breach. However, for the purposes of this tutorial, it was appropriate to do this so that you are not constantly logged off the application while you are continuing to develop it.
