6.4 Connecting the Pressure Transmitter to the Equipment

The Line tool works in much the same way as the Pipe tool, except that the Line tool has the added ability to draw line segments in a variety of different angles, whereas the Pipe tool can only draw pipe segments at right angles.

In this exercise, we will use the Line tool to draw a line attaching the pressure transmitter to the booster tank and the booster tank pressure display.

1.  Click the Line button in the Configuration Toolbox as indicated by the image below. The Line Style dialog opens.

2.  You are returned to the Booster Station application page where a set of crosshairs is attached to the mouse pointer.

3.  Position the crosshairs below the pressure transmitter on the booster tank as shown.

4.  Click to anchor the first line segment.

5.  Move the mouse upwards towards the booster tank pressure display.

6.  Click to anchor the second segment of the line object.

7.  Move the mouse to the right towards the booster tank pressure display. Do not worry if the line segment and the booster tank pressure display overlap, as we will be sending the line object to the back layer.

8.  Click to anchor the end of the second segment of the line.

9.  Right-click to end the line object and release the Line tool.  The Graphic Editor for lines will open.

10. For this line, we don’t need to change any of the defaults.  A one pixel thick line, drawn in black is exactly what we want.  Click on OK to close the editor.

11. The line should appear similar to the one shown in Figure 79 below.

12. Select the line and use the Send to Back tool to tidy up the display.
