6.7 On Your Own

You should now be familiar with many of the tools available using the Configuration Toolbox. In this On Your Own section, you can practice using these tools to add more enhancement details to the Booster Station application page.

According to the P&ID, raw water flows through the water main from the left to the right. A check valve appears along the water main between the first two valves. Using your knowledge of the rectangle, bitmap, and copy configuration tools, draw a rectangle to represent the check valve between the first two valves on the water main. Place an arrow on the check valve, and another identical arrow at the end of the water main to indicate the direction of flow. Use Figure 85 to guide you.

Skills Achieved in Lesson 6

You achieved the following skills and knowledge in Lesson 6:

The Pipe and Line tool operate in a similar manner: a click starts a new line or pipe segment while anchoring the last segment, and a right-click ends the line object and releases the tool.

The Pipe and Line tool have different purposes: the Pipe tool is used to draw 3-D pipes, and can only draw at right angles; while the Line tool is used to draw lines and shapes, and can draw at variable angles.

The Pipe tool can draw pipes of different colors and widths. Generally, you should select a width that matches the part of the graphic to which you are attaching the pipe object.

As you draw new objects over other objects on the application page, the new objects are placed in the upper layer. To send objects to the back layer, select the object and click the Send To Back tool.

The Copy tool makes it easy to re-use objects. Select the object you wish to copy, click the Copy tool, then click the Paste tool to stamp instances of the object across the page. The escape key on the keypad (ESC) releases the tool.

You may select one or more objects, and then use the copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) commands to propagate the selected objects.
