VTS includes an enhanced alarm subsystem, along with a default Alarm page within which alarms can be viewed and managed. Operators can filter and sort alarms according to a wide variety of alarm categories, or can change the display to view alarms by their status.
All alarm events are recorded on disk so that the system remembers its last state after a restart. Any number of alarm categories and priorities are supported.
Alarm sounds are configured to play when an alarm is triggered. In addition to the standard alarm tones played on the PC's internal speaker, VTS can use the Microsoft SAPI driver to speak an alarm. You can also provide custom ".wav" files to be played when an alarm occurs to provide a distinctive sound for each alarm level. The alarm system can be extended to have the ability to send messages via a pager system, a telephone voice system or email, and to allow acknowledgement of alarms via the VTS alarm dialer system.
The alarm status is made available across any network that supports TCP/IP (Internet) protocol. Any PC running VTS on the network or connecting via a VTS Internet Client will be able to view and acknowledge alarms.
