Application Type Drop-Down List

The Application Type drop-down list of the VAM allows you to filter the Available Applications list by application type or category. By default, "All" is displayed when you run VTS, indicating that all available applications are being displayed.

There are 3 types of VTS applications:

    Standard Applications

    Script Applications

    Layered Applications

Standard Applications

Standard applications are the focus of the VTS Developer's Guide. Standard applications use the basic tools of the VTS development environment and VTS templates to generate working applications. As a VTS Developer, you will mainly be concerned with standard and layered applications.

Script Applications

Script applications are created using pure VTS scripting code and do not involve the use of templates or drag-and-drop tools. VTS programmers who have knowledge of programming typically use the VTS scripting functionality. For further information on script applications and the VTS scripting language, please refer to the VTS Programmer's Guide.

Layered Applications

The term "Layered Applications" does not appear in the list of application types. Rather, these are applications based on other VTS applications.

When one application is used as the basis for others, it is referred to as a layer. Any application can potentially be the base layer for other applications.

For example, many water treatment applications are built upon the VTScada layer.  Selecting VTScada from the list of application types will filter the available application list to only those based on that layer.
