Basic Input/Output Tags

Each piece of equipment that makes up a physical system requires tags to represent its input and output processes. Because some equipment uses digital (discrete) signals, some equipment uses analog (continuous) signals, and some equipment uses combinations of the two, VTS provides you with 4 standard tag types to handle the input and output of data to this equipment.

The basic input/output tags are:

Basic I/O Tag Type

Description

Analog Input Tag

Analog input tags are used to accept incoming analog (continuous) values from equipment (e.g. readings from a level transmitter indicating the level of water in a well or tank).

Digital Input Tag

Digital input tags are used to accept incoming digital (discrete) values from equipment (for example, the running state of a motor (whether it is on or off)).
