Configuration Toolbox

The configuration toolbox is an important part of the Display Manager, as it is the access point to the application development tools you will use to create your VTS applications.

To open the configuration toolbox and access its application development tools, click the Configure button that appears in the Display Manager's title bar. Figure 3 shows the configuration toolbox and its buttons.

Resting your mouse pointer on any of the buttons in the configuration toolbox will cause a tooltip to display the name of that button. This feature will come in handy while you are becoming familiar with all of the applications development tools.

There are 3 main groups of tools in the Configuration Toolbox:

    The standard tools;

    The geometric drawing tools; and

    The alignment, spacing, and layering tools.

Standard Tools

The Display Manager's standard tool buttons appear at the top of the configuration toolbox. This grouping of buttons provides access to an important series of application development tools that enable you to work with tags and pages, access libraries of special drawing objects, develop the menu for your application, select and deselect objects on your application pages, and much, much more.

Geometric Drawing Tools

The geometric drawing tool buttons appear in the middle panel of the configuration toolbox. Each of these buttons provides a different shape, label or bitmap that you can add to the screen.

Alignment, Spacing and Layering Tools

The alignment, spacing, and layering tool buttons enable you to manipulate the position objects you've drawn on your application pages.

You can move the configuration toolbox around on the screen while you are building the pages for your application, or you can minimize it.

The mode for the Display Manager is set using the Configuration Toolbox and its tools.
