1. Start Windows and make sure no other programs are running.
2. Insert the VTS CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM drive.
3. The installation program will normally start automatically. If so, go to step 5.
4. If the installation program does not start automatically, run Windows Explorer and locate the VTS CD-ROM (CD-ROM drives are often D or E). Look for the Setup.exe program, and run it by double-clicking its icon.
The VTS Logo appears briefly, after which the VTS Installation dialog reminds you to exit all Windows programs before running the setup program.
Note: If you are installing on a 64-bit Windows™ operating system, you will be prompted to select whether to install the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of VTS.

5. Click the Next button. The VTS License Agreement dialog opens.

6. Review the agreement and select the I Agree radio button.
7. Click the Next button. The Registration Information dialog opens.

8. Enter your name in the Name field.
9. Enter your company's name in the Company field.
10. Click the Next button. The Installation Key dialog opens as shown.

11. Enter the 25 character alphanumeric installation key that was provided with your VTS software (you will find your installation key on the label of your VTS CD-ROM.)
The Next button will be disabled until a correct key has been entered.
12. Click the Next button. The Destination Location dialog opens and displays the default destination folder into which the VTS software will be installed.

13. Ensure the destination folder is what you would like. You may choose to install to a folder other than the default. If so, use the Browse button to navigate to the correct destination folder or create a new destination folder.
14. Click the Next button. The Select Components dialog opens. By default, only the VTS runtime files, the VTS help files, and the VTS image files are selected for installation.

15. Select the additional components you require. If you intend to complete the VTS tutorial, you must select the VTS Tutorial Application component. If this is your first time installing VTS, it is recommended that you select all of the components.
16. Click the Next button. The Desktop & Start Menu dialog opens.

17. Select the Add VTS to Start Menu checkbox.
18. Select the Add Desktop ICON checkbox to add a shortcut to VTS to your desktop.
19. Click the Next button. The Start Menu dialog opens and displays the default name of the start menu group to which the VTS icons will be added.

20. Click the Next button. The Start Installation dialog opens and displays a summary of the installation configuration and the capabilities of the VTS version you are about to install. (Capabilities will vary from those shown in Figure 9, depending on your VTS license)

21. Click the Next button. The Installing dialog opens and displays the progress of the installation. Once the installation is complete, the Installation Complete dialog opens as shown below.

22. Click the Finish button. The installation of the VTS software is now complete.
23. In order for the registry changes to take effect, Windows will need to be re-booted. Select OK from the Restart Computer dialog.

If you have chosen to install the default VTS components only ("VTS Runtime files" and the "VTS Help files" components), at a later date, you may wish to install additional components. The section that follows provides instructions on installing other VTS components.
