      Learn about the Security Manager;

      Learn about system privileges and application privileges;

      Add, copy and modify user accounts; and

      Learn about granting privileges and the result of doing so.

Lesson 15 Overview

Security is an important feature of any monitoring and control system. Security settings are typically used to protect against unauthorized access to a system's data and to limit the use of certain controls. VTS provides you with a built-in Security Manager to help you to manage the security of your VTS applications.

The Security Manager allows you to configure:

      User accounts complete with privileges and passwords;

      Administrative settings related to security;

      Protection against unauthorized control of system processes; and

      Protection against unauthorized access of specific pages.

To access an application, users will have to logon using their username and password. Once logged on, users will only have access to selected controls and features, depending upon the privileges that you have granted them.
