Objectives:
Learn about the drawing methods for digital output tags;
Add a new application page to the application;
Learn about configuring pages as dialogs;
Use the alignment and spacing tools; and
Use the Border tool.
Lesson 9 Overview
The last lesson gave you experience in establishing digital output tags. By now you should be more familiar with the development and configuration of tags, and with working with the Tag Browser.
You did not use drawing methods for the digital output tags you added in the last lesson. In the system planning section of this tutorial, it was decided that all controls would be located in pop-up dialogs. This is being done to prevent a multitude of tag drawing objects on the application page cluttering the page unnecessarily.
In a later lesson, you will configure a Page Hotbox near the booster pump. When operators click the hotbox, the control panel you are creating in this exercise will open.
Using control panels in your applications is a good practice that makes the application easy to use, saves space, and guards against accidental procedures by the VTS operators. Control panels can also be protected from unauthorized access by setting user privileges.
The creation of control panels is accomplished using the same tool with which you manage all the pages of your applications: the Page Section of the Library.
